The Argofet 200-3 is a Victron battery isolator for three batteries, rated for 200 A from the alternator. It lets one alternator charge several batteries at the same time without tying them together, and it works on 12 V or 24 V systems. Its voltage drop is under 0,02 V at low current and averages 0,1 V at higher currents. The connections use M8 bolts, and the unit weighs 1.4 kg.
Our take
A voltage drop under 0,02 V at low current, averaging 0,1 V at higher currents, means the batteries receive close to full alternator output while staying separate. It is built for 200 A and three batteries, so a fourth bank would need another unit.
From our buying guide
NMMA says not to mix battery chemistries or types in the same bank, and the makers add their own limits.
Check before you buy:
- Each maker sets its own alternator rules. Battle Born calls a DC-to-DC charger a simple and safe way to use alternator charging.
- Battle Born warns that a BMS shutdown leaves the vessel without power, and that one during alternator charging can severely damage the alternator.
- Ignition protection on a charger or switch is the maker's statement, so read what it says and which standard it names.
