The Argodiode 80-2SC is a Victron diode battery isolator for two batteries. It lets an alternator charge both at the same time without tying them together. It is rated for a maximum charge current of 80 A on a 12V or 24V system. Schottky diodes keep the voltage drop low. The battery terminals are M6 bolts, the compensation diode terminal is a 6.3 mm Faston, and the unit weighs 0.5 kg.
Our take
The 80 A maximum charge current and two battery outputs define the Argodiode 80-2SC: one alternator feeds a starter and an accessory battery while they stay unconnected. Its Schottky diodes are described as giving a low voltage drop.
From our buying guide
NMMA says not to mix battery chemistries or types in the same bank, and the makers add their own limits.
Check before you buy:
- Each maker sets its own alternator rules. Battle Born calls a DC-to-DC charger a simple and safe way to use alternator charging.
- Battle Born warns that a BMS shutdown leaves the vessel without power, and that one during alternator charging can severely damage the alternator.
- Ignition protection on a charger or switch is the maker's statement, so read what it says and which standard it names.
