The Thetford Nano Touch is a compact electric marine toilet that runs on 12V. It flushes with a turbine design that the maker describes as clog-resistant, and it is described as quiet in operation. It can take either raw water or pressure water for the flush. Two check valves and a water trap deal with odor. Flow is rated at 3 GPM, with a suction lift of 13 ft. A control panel is an optional extra.

Our take

Two check valves and a water trap are what keep odor out of the Nano Touch, and the compact bowl keeps the footprint down. It flushes on 12V electric power and can draw either raw or pressure water, and the control panel is an optional extra.

From our buying guide

A vessel with installed toilet facilities must have an operable marine sanitation device that is labeled or certified. EPA says untreated sewage may not be discharged within three miles from shore, and in a No Discharge Zone treated sewage may not be either.

Check before you buy:

  • You have what it needs, since heads may call for 12-volt power, through-hulls and seacocks, or a separate vacuum source.
  • It fits the compartment, since Jabsco says an electric toilet needs more space at the rear than a manual one.
  • If it could sit below the waterline, you'll fit a vented loop as the maker specifies, since Jabsco warns the vent, not the loop, is what stops the siphon.
