This Taylor Made fender is built for boats with low freeboard, in white and measuring 7 inches in diameter by 23 inches long. Its shape protects the gunwales and rubrail, and it is made from a tough marine grade vinyl. An inflation valve lets you set the air pressure. The fender can also be tied on over the cleat so it sits higher on the boat, where the protection is needed.
Our take
The inflation valve is the practical feature here: air pressure can be adjusted, so the vinyl body can be set firmer or softer. Shaped for gunwales and rubrail, and able to be tied over the cleat, it sits higher on a low-sided boat.
From our buying guide
Polyform says to use at least three fenders when docking, and Taylor Made's rule of thumb is one for every 10 ft of waterline per side. Both makers hedge their size charts, so allow for your boat and where you moor.
Check before you buy:
- The size is on that maker's own chart for your boat's length.
- Your fender line suits the eye, since Polyform says too small a line can cut through a vinyl eye.
- You'll inflate it to the maker's figure, since two makers say over-inflating voids the warranty.
