The Shurflo Revolution 4028-100-E54 is a self-priming, automatic demand fresh water pump running on 12 volts. It is rated at 2.3 gallons per minute and 50 psi, with a listed current draw of 5 amps. It uses a one-piece diaphragm with an internal bypass and a built-in check valve, aimed at low cycling and quiet running. It is thermally protected, can run dry without damage, and mounts in any position.
Our take
The 50 psi rating with an internal bypass means the pump should hold pressure without short, rapid cycling when you crack a tap. Dry-run tolerance is handy on a boat, since an empty tank won't wreck it, and any-position mounting helps in a cramped locker.

Size a freshwater pump by the outlets that must run at once. Jabsco's rule of thumb is 1 GPM per outlet, and the listed flow is open flow, which falls as pressure rises.
Check before you buy:
- The data sheet shows flow at pressure. One Shurflo gives 4.0 GPM at 0 psi and 2.0 GPM at 40 psi.
- You have an inlet strainer, which Jabsco says is required in every freshwater pump installation.
- An accumulator suits the pump. Jabsco says one cuts cycling on a pressure-switch system, and not to use its accumulators with variable-speed pumps.
