The Shurflo Aqua King II Standard is a 12V DC automatic demand fresh water pump, part number 4138-111-E65. It uses a co-molded diaphragm with four independent chambers, a built-in check valve and an internal bypass, and it comes with 1/2 inch hose barb fittings. It delivers 3.0 GPM (11.35 L/min) with a shut-off pressure of 55 psi, drawing up to 6.5 amps. It self-primes up to 6 feet, has a sealed switch and motor, and is ignition and thermally protected.
Our take
The 6.5 amp maximum draw at 12V is modest, so a dedicated fused supply from the house bank handles it easily. Dry-run capability means an empty tank won't wreck the diaphragm, though self-priming is only good to 6 feet of lift.
From our buying guide
Size a freshwater pump by the outlets that must run at once. Jabsco's rule of thumb is 1 GPM per outlet, and the listed flow is open flow, which falls as pressure rises.
Check before you buy:
- The data sheet shows flow at pressure. One Shurflo gives 4.0 GPM at 0 psi and 2.0 GPM at 40 psi.
- You have an inlet strainer, which Jabsco says is required in every freshwater pump installation.
- An accumulator suits the pump. Jabsco says one cuts cycling on a pressure-switch system, and not to use its accumulators with variable-speed pumps.
