Our take
This horn's 10 A draw at 12V DC is the figure to check against your wiring and fuse. It is stated to cover boats up to 20 meters (66 ft), so a larger vessel falls outside the maker's claim.
From our buying guide
A boat of 12 m or more must have a whistle, and one of 20 m or more a bell as well. Under 12 m it need not carry them, but must have some other means of making an efficient sound signal.
Check before you buy:
- You aren't comparing loudness across makers, since they measure it at different distances, or give no distance at all.
- You can mount a fixed horn facing forward and as high as possible, as Kahlenberg says to.
- You have any parts the maker leaves to you, such as a horn button and fuse.
