The Ritchie Voyager F-82 is a flush mount compass with a 3 inch flat card dial in black. It has an internal gimbal, built-in compensators for adjusting deviation, and a 12V green NiteVu light. The pivot is hardened steel with a sapphire jewel, and the dial carries extra 45 degree lubber lines and a movable sun shield.

Built-in compensators let you trim out deviation on the boat itself. The flat card dial is described as best for a spot where you look down at the compass, so it belongs on a surface you view from above, with the 12V green light for night.

Ritchie says a magnetic compass needs no electrical power to work, and that a GPS gives course over ground, not heading. Magnets, ferrous metals and current-carrying devices near it can cause deviation, so the spot matters too.
