The Raymarine T70158 is an EV200 autopilot package for sailing vessels with mechanical steering. It combines a P70S control head, an EV-1 sensor core, an ACU-200 actuator control unit and a Type 1 mechanical linear drive. The drive is for mechanically steered vessels up to 22,000 lb. The sensor core is a 9-axis unit rated IPX6 and IPX7, and the system connects over SeaTalk and NMEA 2000.
Our take
This is a complete package: control head, EV-1 sensor core, ACU-200 and a Type 1 linear drive. The drive is meant for mechanically steered vessels up to 22,000 lb, so steering type and boat weight are the two things to check before you plan around it.
From our buying guide
Raymarine describes a typical autopilot as four parts: a heading sensor, a control unit, a drive and a control head. Bought alone, the parts don't steer, and Raymarine says the operator must stay at the helm at all times.
Check before you buy:
- The box list has the drive and control head you need, since packs can leave out a major part.
- It's rated for your boat the way the maker measures it. Raymarine sizes on fully laden displacement, often 20% above the designed figure.
- On hydraulic steering, the pump's range covers your steering cylinder's volume.
