The i60 Wind is a display-only instrument for wind data. It shows wind speed and direction on an analogue dial with an LCD speed readout, and calculates both true and apparent wind speed and angle. It connects to SeaTalkng, NMEA 2000 and SeaTalk networks and is designed to run from 12V DC power. On screen it also shows Beaufort force, maximum wind speed, VMG and tack. Built-in alarms cover wind angle and wind speed. Because it is display only, it needs a separate masthead transducer to supply the wind data.
Our take
This suits a sailboat that has, or is adding, a Raymarine masthead transducer on an NMEA 2000, SeaTalkng or SeaTalk network, and wants wind speed, angle and alarms at a glance. It is the wrong pick for a boat with no masthead unit, since the display cannot read wind alone. Its main limit is that it displays wind data and does not measure it.
From our buying guide
A networked instrument display shows what its sensors put on the network. B&G says its Triton2 shows no reading for any data type missing from the network.
Check before you buy:
- The sensors for the readings you want are on your network.
- Your older gear can reach it, since gear that speaks NMEA 0183 may need a gateway or converter.
- You have the rest if you want to steer from it. B&G says steering from a Triton2 also needs a separate keypad, an autopilot computer and a drive unit.
