The Raritan PH PowerFlush is a 12V marine-size toilet that flushes electrically at the push of a button and does not macerate. If power is lost, it converts to manual operation by pulling a pin and fitting a handle. The seat is a slow close design that locks in place while the boat rocks, and a full size joker valve helps prevent clogs and improves flushing. With the intake water turned off it can still be pumped, using almost no water.
Our take
The PowerFlush can be switched from electric to manual within minutes by removing a pin and inserting a handle, so losing power does not leave the head unusable. Otherwise a button runs the motor for you.
From our buying guide
A vessel with installed toilet facilities must have an operable marine sanitation device that is labeled or certified. EPA says untreated sewage may not be discharged within three miles from shore, and in a No Discharge Zone treated sewage may not be either.
Check before you buy:
- You have what it needs, since heads may call for 12-volt power, through-hulls and seacocks, or a separate vacuum source.
- It fits the compartment, since Jabsco says an electric toilet needs more space at the rear than a manual one.
- If it could sit below the waterline, you'll fit a vented loop as the maker specifies, since Jabsco warns the vent, not the loop, is what stops the siphon.
