The Racor 320R-RAC-01 is a gasoline fuel filter with a clear plastic bowl and a 10 micron element. It is built for outboard engines in open air, non-enclosed installations, and it handles flow up to 60 gph. The body is white powder coated against corrosion. It has three 1/4 in 18 ports, two inlets and one outlet, and it goes on the vacuum side of the fuel or transfer pump.

Our take

The see-thru plastic bowl lets you look at what the 10 micron element has caught, and the maker restricts that bowl to outboard use in open air. That makes it the wrong choice for an enclosed engine space, and its 60 gph rating is a gasoline outboard figure.

From our buying guide

Parker lists Racor's marine Turbine Series for diesel and biodiesel engines, and Racor says gasoline filters in an enclosed location should use a metal bowl. A micron rating means little without its efficiency.

Check before you buy:

  • The efficiency is stated with the micron size. Racor labels its finest element 2 micron and rates it at 98% at 4 microns.
  • You know your engine's change interval, since intervals are per model.
  • You can fit it on the suction side of the fuel transfer pump, where Racor says to install its 900MA and 1000MA, since pumps emulsify water.
