This Perko light is a stern light made for vertical mounting. The 0939DP1STS has a stainless steel top over a black plastic base, and the same style is also made with a copper plated brass top. It is a flush mount design, so the base fits down against the surface it is mounted on and the top is the part that shows.
Our take
The stainless steel top over a black plastic base is the build detail to note on this Perko stern light. Flush mounting means it is fitted directly onto a surface, so the plastic base is what sits against the boat while the metal top faces out.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
