The Perko Fig. 1125 is a pole light on a chrome-plated brass teardrop base that works as a masthead light under power and an all-round light at anchor. Its three-wire system means the rear light cannot be switched on alone when wired correctly. It is a USCG certified fixture for vessels up to 65 ft (20 m), with 2 nautical mile visibility and a 33-7/8 inch tall tube. It plugs in, so it can be removed for storage. It takes a 12 volt bulb, which is not included.
Our take
The three-wire design lets one fixture serve as a masthead light under power and an all-round light at anchor, so a single fixture covers both jobs. Remember the 12 volt bulb is not included and the visibility is rated at 2 nautical miles.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
