Perko's 9611DP0USA is a compact main battery disconnect switch that is ignition protected. It measures 4-3/4 inches across and 1-7/8 inches deep, and it is rated for 315 amps continuous and 450 amps intermittent on 12, 24 and 32 volt marine electrical systems. It takes a third less space to mount and uses the same bolt patterns as the 8500 Series. Four removable skirt panels give access for the cables.
Our take
The 315 amp continuous rating, with 450 amps intermittent, is the figure to check against your main feed cable and the load on it. The bolt pattern matches the 8500 Series, so the mounting holes line up with that series.
From our buying guide
Perko says its selector switches can be switched between 1, ALL and 2 with the engine running, and that they let you put batteries in parallel for emergency starting. Battle Born advises against that connection with its LiFePO4 batteries.
Check before you buy:
- Its continuous and 5-minute ratings suit your system. Perko rates its medium-duty 8501 at 250 A continuous.
- It has an alternator field disconnect if you need one. Perko says its AFD models protect non-unitized alternators if the switch is turned OFF with the engine running.
- If it's going in a gasoline engine space, the maker lists it as ignition protected.
