This is a Perko stowaway stern pole light, 42 inches tall with a 5 degree rake. It uses a 2-pin plug-in connection, a clear fluted lens and gold plated contacts. It carries a 2-mile visibility rating and is certified for power driven vessels under 20 meters (65.6 ft). The black top style finishes the pole.
Our take
The 2-pin plug-in stowaway design means the pole can be pulled out and stored when you aren't running at night, which keeps a 42 inch mast out of the way. Its certification covers power vessels under 20 m, so it suits motorboats, not sail.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
