The Nautos HT 2260 is an automatic ratchet block with a 57 mm sheave, built for sensitive loads. It is load-sensing: it turns freely either way when the load is light and engages the ratchet automatically as load increases. The working load is 500 lb (226.80 kg) with a breaking load of 1450 lb (657.70 kg), and it takes line up to 10 mm. That lets unloaded mainsheet and jib sheets pay out freely when rounding a mark.
Our take
The Autoratchet turns freely either way under light load and engages its ratchet as load builds, so a slack main or jib sheet can pay out easily at a mark. It takes line to 10 mm and carries a 500 lb working load against a 1450 lb break load.
From our buying guide
Ball-bearing blocks give the lowest friction on lines running under moderate loads. Plain bearings have more friction, but handle very high and static loads.
Check before you buy:
- A ratchet block is rated for the full sheet load.
- Any becket's load limit suits the job, since a becket can be rated below the block itself.
- A soft-attach block will be looked after, since Harken warns soft attachments are prone to wear and recommends them only for regularly maintained race boats.
