The Mustang Survival MIT 100 is an automatic inflatable PFD in Admiral Gray, sold in a universal size. When inflated it gives 100 N, or 26 lb, of buoyancy, and it is USCG approved. The outer shell is 500 denier Cordura, and the listed weight is 1.75 lbs. An inspection window and access flap sit over the inflator, and the one-fold design is meant to make repacking easy.
Our take
The 100 N of buoyancy when inflated is the number to read on this automatic inflatable. The inspection window and access flap give you a way to look at the inflator, and the one-fold design is meant to make repacking easy.
From our buying guide
US rules count Coast Guard-approved jackets. One approved only to European or ISO standards doesn't meet the US carriage rules, however good it is.
Check before you buy:
- The approval number is on the label, and the jacket fits you as that label marks.
- You're getting the US version, since some jackets are sold in two.
- If it's Level 50, it only counts toward what you must carry when it's worn.
