The Fluid 2.0 is a manually inflated belt pack personal flotation device from Mustang Survival, built for stand-up paddleboarders and others who want minimal bulk. It wraps around the waist on a wide mesh belt and gives up to 29 lbs of buoyancy once inflated. A yoke-style bladder supports the neck and head in the water. It has a zippered pocket, daisy chain loops, a D-ring, an inspection window on the inflator and a whistle. It is one size for adults of 90 lbs and above and weighs just over 1 lb.
Our take
The manual activation cord is the defining trait: the pack only inflates when the wearer pulls it, so it relies on you being conscious and able to act. Its 29 lbs of buoyancy and light weight suit staying unobtrusive while paddling.
From our buying guide
US rules count Coast Guard-approved jackets. One approved only to European or ISO standards doesn't meet the US carriage rules, however good it is.
Check before you buy:
- The approval number is on the label, and the jacket fits you as that label marks.
- You're getting the US version, since some jackets are sold in two.
- If it's Level 50, it only counts toward what you must carry when it's worn.
