The Mustang Survival MD3183 LE is an inflatable PFD with Hydrostatic Inflator Technology, built for law enforcement use. It uses a Halkey-Roberts 1F auto hydrostatic inflator and gives 35lb of buoyancy when inflated. It is rated Type V for commercial use and Type II for recreational use. A status window shows green when it is ready. The inflator is maintenance-free for 5 years from manufacture, and after any inflation the vest has to be inspected and re-armed. It also has a backup oral inflation tube and a D-ring for a kill-switch.

The status window turns green when the hydrostatic inflator is ready, so a glance tells you whether the vest is armed. After any inflation it has to be inspected and re-armed before the next use.
