This is a disposable in-line fuel filter from Moeller with 3/8 inch barbed connections. It traps dirt and metallic particles in the fuel passing through it. The vial is clear, so the condition of the fuel can be checked by eye at a glance. Moeller states plainly that it is not for use with inboard engines, so it is ruled out for that kind of installation.

The clear vial on this 3/8 inch barb filter lets you judge the fuel condition by eye. It traps dirt and metallic particles, but Moeller says it is not for use with inboard engines, so keep it off those.

Parker lists Racor's marine Turbine Series for diesel and biodiesel engines, and Racor says gasoline filters in an enclosed location should use a metal bowl. A micron rating means little without its efficiency.
Check before you buy:
- The efficiency is stated with the micron size. Racor labels its finest element 2 micron and rates it at 98% at 4 microns.
- You know your engine's change interval, since intervals are per model.
- You can fit it on the suction side of the fuel transfer pump, where Racor says to install its 900MA and 1000MA, since pumps emulsify water.
