The Marinco 10035 is a small electric horn for 12 volt systems. The sound unit is totally sealed, and the cover, diaphragm and mounting bracket are all Type 304 stainless steel. It puts out 106 dB at 1 metre on a fundamental frequency of 440 Hz, give or take 20 Hz, and draws 3 amps. The body measures 3 inches long by 3-1/4 wide by 1-3/4 high.
Our take
The 3 amp draw and 3-inch-long body make the 10035 an easy horn to find room and wiring for. Sealing the sound unit and making the diaphragm and bracket from 304 stainless means the parts that face spray are built for it.

A boat of 12 m or more must have a whistle, and one of 20 m or more a bell as well. Under 12 m it need not carry them, but must have some other means of making an efficient sound signal.
Check before you buy:
- You aren't comparing loudness across makers, since they measure it at different distances, or give no distance at all.
- You can mount a fixed horn facing forward and as high as possible, as Kahlenberg says to.
- You have any parts the maker leaves to you, such as a horn button and fuse.
