This is a 12 volt electric horn from Marinco that drops into a hidden mount. It is rated at 105 dB(A) at one meter, with a fundamental frequency of 440 Hz, give or take 20 Hz. Maximum current draw is 3 amps. The horn mounts from the outside and its grill snaps on afterward, although the grill is a separate part. It needs 2.25 in by 3.625 in by 3.5 in of space inside the mounting location.
Our take
The 11095 pairs a 105 dB(A) rating at one meter with a 3 amp maximum draw on 12V DC, so the circuit has to carry 3 amps. It mounts from outside, but it needs a 2.25 by 3.625 by 3.5 inch space behind the opening, and the grill is bought separately.
From our buying guide
A boat of 12 m or more must have a whistle, and one of 20 m or more a bell as well. Under 12 m it need not carry them, but must have some other means of making an efficient sound signal.
Check before you buy:
- You aren't comparing loudness across makers, since they measure it at different distances, or give no distance at all.
- You can mount a fixed horn facing forward and as high as possible, as Kahlenberg says to.
- You have any parts the maker leaves to you, such as a horn button and fuse.
