- Size
- 6ft
- Material and finish
- Powder coated aluminum finish
The Lewmar Axis is a 6 ft shallow water anchor in black that is deployed electrically instead of being thrown over the side. A 12V linear actuator does the work, so there are no hydraulic pumps or hoses to fit. The actuator carries an IP67M rating, the finish is powder coated aluminum, and a remote handles deployment. One remote can be programmed for two anchors. Optional mounting brackets are available as alternatives to the standard one.
Our take
With a 12V linear actuator instead of hydraulics, the Axis needs no pump or hoses, so there is less plumbing to fit and nothing hydraulic to look after. The actuator is rated IP67M for harsh conditions, and one remote can be set up for two anchors.
From our buying guide
The Coast Guard does not regulate anchors, so no anchor carries its approval. Each maker sizes on its own assumptions, so a size on one chart does not translate to another.
Check before you buy:
- You know what wind the maker's chart assumes. Rocna's assumes 50 knots and Fortress's 30 knots.
- It fits your bow, since makers say some designs fit bow rollers, bow pulpits or bowsprits better.
- The type suits your bottom. A Coast Guard Auxiliary article says the right type depends a lot on your boat, your anchoring and the make-up of the bottom.
