The Lewmar 15ST Evo is a single-speed self-tailing winch with a chrome bronze finish and black jaws. A cast stainless steel feeder arm is built into the jaw and stripper ring, and the design is meant to keep a loose rope cover from snagging. The top cap unscrews by hand, so servicing needs no tools. The winch can also be converted to electric later, and Lewmar offers the Evo in alloy as well as chrome bronze.
Our take
A top cap that unscrews by hand means this winch can be opened for servicing with no tools at all, so a check can be done right on the boat. Being convertible to electric also leaves the option of adding power later.
