This is the 12V DC L-Series heavy duty bilge pump from Johnson Pump, rated at 1600 GPH and drawing 7A. It comes with two screw-in outlet ports, 1-1/8 in and 1-1/4 in, and a removable check valve is standard. The motor is liquid cooled and runs on 12-pole, double ball bearings, and the shaft and hardware are stainless steel. The pump is built to ISO 8849 and CE standards.

Two outlet port sizes, 1-1/8 in and 1-1/4 in, come with this 1600 GPH pump, so it can be fitted to either hose size. The liquid cooled motor on double ball bearings is built for extended service life.

Rule and Johnson both say their bilge pumps are not intended for damage control. Flow falls as the discharge head rises, and the length of the hose, its bends and any check valve reduce it further.
Check before you buy:
- The maker's own table shows the flow at head, since how much a pump loses depends on the model.
- An automatic pump also has a manual switch, which ABYC's voluntary 2005 standard calls for.
