The Johnson Pump Aqua Jet wash down pump, part 10-13407-17, is a diaphragm pump with a 5-chamber design and a 70 psi pressure rating. It is self-priming with an integrated pressure switch and can run dry without damage. It works with fresh and salt water. This pump-only version includes the pump, a 40-mesh inlet strainer, a hose connector, 1/2 inch NPT and 3/8 inch BSP barb port fittings and a garden hose connector.
Our take
This wash down pump has its pressure switch built in and is self-priming, so there is no separate switch to fit. It handles running dry without damage, and it is suitable for salt water as well as fresh.

Size a freshwater pump by the outlets that must run at once. Jabsco's rule of thumb is 1 GPM per outlet, and the listed flow is open flow, which falls as pressure rises.
Check before you buy:
- The data sheet shows flow at pressure. One Shurflo gives 4.0 GPM at 0 psi and 2.0 GPM at 40 psi.
- You have an inlet strainer, which Jabsco says is required in every freshwater pump installation.
- An accumulator suits the pump. Jabsco says one cuts cycling on a pressure-switch system, and not to use its accumulators with variable-speed pumps.
