The Jabsco SS Cyclone low pressure 12V pump has a stainless steel body, a long-life motor and a mechanical seal. It is aimed at circulation and transfer work, with hot water systems and livewells given as examples. It is ignition protected to ISO 8846 for marine use. The ports are 3/4 inch female NPT, and the pump measures 4.4 by 4.5 by 6.3 inches. The low pressure model is rated for continuous duty.
Our take
The continuous duty rating on the low pressure model means it is not held to the on and off limits of the high pressure version, which suits a livewell or hot water loop that has to keep moving. ISO 8846 ignition protection and 3/4 inch female NPT ports round out the basics.
From our buying guide
Size a freshwater pump by the outlets that must run at once. Jabsco's rule of thumb is 1 GPM per outlet, and the listed flow is open flow, which falls as pressure rises.
Check before you buy:
- The data sheet shows flow at pressure. One Shurflo gives 4.0 GPM at 0 psi and 2.0 GPM at 40 psi.
- You have an inlet strainer, which Jabsco says is required in every freshwater pump installation.
- An accumulator suits the pump. Jabsco says one cuts cycling on a pressure-switch system, and not to use its accumulators with variable-speed pumps.
