The Jabsco Par-Max HD6 is a 24V DC freshwater delivery pump rated at 6 GPM and 60 PSI. A built-in sealed pressure switch starts it on demand, and a bypass module reduces cycling for smoother flow. It can run dry without damage. It has two 3/4 in straight hosebarb ports. The maximum draw is 8.0 amps, with a 15A fuse size.
Our take
At 8.0 amps maximum with a 15A fuse size, the 24V Par-Max HD6 has a fairly small electrical load. Its bypass module is there to reduce cycling and give smoother flow, which helps because the pressure switch starts the pump on demand.
From our buying guide
Size a freshwater pump by the outlets that must run at once. Jabsco's rule of thumb is 1 GPM per outlet, and the listed flow is open flow, which falls as pressure rises.
Check before you buy:
- The data sheet shows flow at pressure. One Shurflo gives 4.0 GPM at 0 psi and 2.0 GPM at 40 psi.
- You have an inlet strainer, which Jabsco says is required in every freshwater pump installation.
- An accumulator suits the pump. Jabsco says one cuts cycling on a pressure-switch system, and not to use its accumulators with variable-speed pumps.
