The Jabsco Par-Max 3 in this version is a 24V DC freshwater delivery pump rated at 3 GPM and 40 PSI. A co-molded diaphragm and sealed pressure switch let it run on demand, and it is self-priming. A plastic housing guards the motor against corrosion. The pump can run dry without damage, includes an integrated bypass module for smoother flow, and draws up to 3.1 amps.
Our take
This Par-Max 3 runs on 24V DC and draws a maximum of 3.1 amps, a small figure to plan wiring around. The bypass module reduces cycling, so water at the tap should flow more smoothly, and the plastic housing protects the motor from corrosion.
From our buying guide
Size a freshwater pump by the outlets that must run at once. Jabsco's rule of thumb is 1 GPM per outlet, and the listed flow is open flow, which falls as pressure rises.
Check before you buy:
- The data sheet shows flow at pressure. One Shurflo gives 4.0 GPM at 0 psi and 2.0 GPM at 40 psi.
- You have an inlet strainer, which Jabsco says is required in every freshwater pump installation.
- An accumulator suits the pump. Jabsco says one cuts cycling on a pressure-switch system, and not to use its accumulators with variable-speed pumps.
