Where to buy

A self-priming Jabsco impeller pump with a bronze body and a Type 316 stainless steel shaft. It has 1-1/4 inch internal NPT ports, pre-lubricated double row ball bearings, and weighs 10-1/2 lb. Flow is a nominal 44.4 gpm at 1,500 rpm, and the pump primes from dry up to 7.8 ft. It can run in either direction, so the flow can be reversed.

Our take

The rating of 44.4 gpm at 1,500 rpm is the figure to check against your needs, since flow is quoted at that speed only. Priming dry up to 7.8 ft means it can lift from below the pump without being filled first.

From our buying guide

The impeller depends on the pump, so find it by the pump's model number. Makers' schedules differ, with some saying every year and others every 300 hours or three years, so go by the one for your engine.

Check before you buy:

  • It matches your old one on blade count, shaft diameter, outside diameter, material, drive type and depth.
  • You've checked any substitute against the pump housing, since cross-references are the makers' own claims.
  • The material suits the job. Jabsco recommends neoprene for engine cooling, and nitrile for bilge pumping and water with oil or diesel.
