This is the starboard sidelight from Hella's NaviLED PRO LED range, with a green lens in a white housing. It is rated for a 3 nautical mile visible distance and carries IMO, RINA, USCG, ABYC A-16 and Maritime NZ approvals. The lamp is sealed to IP 67 and arrives with 2.5 m of twin core marine cable attached. It runs on 9 to 33 V DC with spike and reverse polarity protection, and weighs 250 g including the cable. Port, starboard and stern lamps draw under 3.2 W combined.
Our take
The 3 nautical mile visible distance sets what this starboard lamp is for, so check it against the range your boat's lights need. Its IP 67 sealing and 9 to 33 V DC input mean spray and a sagging battery are both covered by the stated specs.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
