The Hella NaviLED PRO bi-colour is a sealed LED navigation light with a minimum visible distance of 2 nautical miles for yachts and powerboats. It has no bulb to replace, and it draws under 2 W (below 0.17 A at 12V). It runs on 9-33V DC, is protected against spikes to +500 volts and reverse polarity to -700 volts, and is rated IP 67. It has 2.5m of twin core marine cable already fitted, and weighs 150g with that cable.
Our take
The 9-33V DC input range, with protection against voltage spikes and reversed polarity, means this light copes with a poorly regulated supply. At under 2 W it also asks little of the battery.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
