This Hella lamp puts a masthead light and a deck floodlight into a single housing. The masthead function is rated at 3 NM, and the unit is intended for vessels under 20 m. The housing is black fibre reinforced material and every metal part is stainless steel. The glass lens is bonded to the reflector to keep dust and moisture out, and flexible mounting arms let it fit a variety of mast profiles.
Our take
The 3 NM masthead rating and the floodlight share one housing, so a single mast fitting gives you both a masthead light and a lit deck. Stainless metal parts and a bonded, moisture resistant lens suit a fitting that lives up the mast.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
