Our take
Drawing under 2.5 W, or 0.2 A at 12 V, this LED masthead lamp asks very little of the battery, and the 9 to 33 V DC range comes with electronics the maker says keep the light reliable through severe voltage fluctuations.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
