This is the black stern lamp in Hella Marine's NaviLED PRO range, with a minimum visible distance of 3 nautical miles for yachts and powerboats. The lens is high-impact, UV-resistant acrylic. The lamp is completely sealed to IP67 and weighs 250 g including its 2.5 m of tinned marine cable. It is protected against reverse polarity to -500 volts, and its listed compliance covers USCG, ABYC C-5 and IMO Col Reg 72.
Our take
A 3 nautical mile minimum visible distance is the headline figure for this stern lamp, and the IP67 rating means the housing is completely sealed against water. The 2.5 m of tinned marine cable is included, so the lead length is known before you plan the run.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
