The Harken Performa 35 is a two-speed self-tailing winch with an aluminum drum to save weight. It is listed for boats of 30 to 50 feet and for use with high tech lines. Composite roller and thrust bearings cut friction under load, and the bearings sit captive in a Delrin cage. The gears, pins and pawls that carry the load are 17-4 PH stainless steel, a grade that needs routine maintenance in saltwater.
