Harken's Element 6260 is a swivel block with a 60 mm sheave. Its sideplates are forged aluminium, hardcoat-anodized against corrosion, and the sheave is a composite that also resists corrosion, running on a journal bearing. It accepts line up to 14 mm. The working load is 1,100 kg against a 2,200 kg breaking load, and the whole block weighs 175 g.
Our take
A 14 mm maximum line size on a 60 mm sheave limits this block to modest rope diameters, so check your line before fitting. The forged aluminium sideplates are hardcoat-anodized, which gives the metal protection against corrosion.
From our buying guide
Ball-bearing blocks give the lowest friction on lines running under moderate loads. Plain bearings have more friction, but handle very high and static loads.
Check before you buy:
- A ratchet block is rated for the full sheet load.
- Any becket's load limit suits the job, since a becket can be rated below the block itself.
- A soft-attach block will be looked after, since Harken warns soft attachments are prone to wear and recommends them only for regularly maintained race boats.
