The Harken 15STA is a size 15 single speed radial self-tailing winch with an aluminum drum, made for 1/4" to 3/8" line. Diagonal ribs on the drum increase grip. Composite roller bearings need no lubrication, and the gears and pins are 17-4PH stainless steel. The base skirt snaps on and off so one person can install it.

The gears and pins are 17-4PH stainless, which the maker says brings strength but only some corrosion resistance and a routine maintenance schedule in saltwater. The composite roller bearings need no lubrication, so the upkeep is rinsing and checking the steel.

- The self-tailing jaws take your rope, since they have a range.
