The ARG-1000-P is a bronze raw water strainer from Groco with a plastic basket. It has 1 inch NPT ports threaded internally and stands 9 inches tall. The basket has 0.077 inch holes and 45% open area, giving a screen area 29 times the pipe area. There are no tie rods or gaskets, since O-rings seal the mating surfaces. The retainer cap screws on and off without tools, and a reusable strap lets you lift out the whole strainer.
Our take
The screw-on retainer cap is the feature you will use most: it opens without tools, so checking the basket is quick. The 29:1 screen to pipe area ratio means the basket has plenty of area compared with the 1 inch pipe.
