The Garmin GPSMAP 9210 is a 10-inch touchscreen chartplotter with a sunlight-readable WUXGA IPS display at 1920 x 1200 pixels. Garmin rates its processing as 7 times faster than the previous generation. A GPS 24xd position receiver and antenna are included, and it connects to compatible gear over NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183. Transducers are sold separately.

Our take

With processing rated 7 times faster than the previous generation, the 9210 is built to redraw charts quickly as you pan and zoom underway. Transducers are sold separately, so a sonar setup means buying and fitting one on top of the chartplotter.

From our buying guide

What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.

Check before you buy:

  • The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
  • It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
  • A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
