This Garmin kit is built around two GMI 40 marine instruments, each with a 4.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen. They connect to NMEA 2000 and Garmin BlueNet networks, and gauge sets and page layouts can be arranged how you like. The bundle also includes a wired gWind sensor, a GND 10 black box bridge, a GDT 43 depth and temperature transducer, a GST 43 speed and temperature transducer, and a 25 m mast cable.
Our take
Two GMI 40 displays in one pack means two separate 4.3-inch screens on the NMEA 2000 network. The gauge sets and page layouts are flexible, so each screen can be set up to show different data from the other.
From our buying guide
A networked instrument display shows what its sensors put on the network. B&G says its Triton2 shows no reading for any data type missing from the network.
Check before you buy:
- The sensors for the readings you want are on your network.
- Your older gear can reach it, since gear that speaks NMEA 0183 may need a gateway or converter.
- You have the rest if you want to steer from it. B&G says steering from a Triton2 also needs a separate keypad, an autopilot computer and a drive unit.
