The Garmin GHC 50 is a 5 inch WVGA touchscreen instrument for controlling a Garmin autopilot. The display is anti-glare, and settings can be shared with Garmin MFDs on the same boat. It can be used wired or with a wireless remote, and it works with all GHP Reactor autopilots. It is an autopilot control head rather than a general instrument display.
Our take
The 5 inch touchscreen has an anti-glare display, which helps with reading it at the helm, and the maker lists compatibility with all GHP Reactor autopilots. It is a control head for Garmin autopilots, so check that yours is a Reactor model first.
From our buying guide
A networked instrument display shows what its sensors put on the network. B&G says its Triton2 shows no reading for any data type missing from the network.
Check before you buy:
- The sensors for the readings you want are on your network.
- Your older gear can reach it, since gear that speaks NMEA 0183 may need a gateway or converter.
- You have the rest if you want to steer from it. B&G says steering from a Triton2 also needs a separate keypad, an autopilot computer and a drive unit.
