The ECHOMAP UHD2 74CV is a 7-inch keypad-operated chartplotter with built-in ClearVü and CHIRP sonar. This version ships with a GT20-TM transducer, and the display is 800 x 480 pixels. It runs on 9 to 18 volts DC and takes a microSD card up to 32 GB. Charts are preloaded: LakeVü g3 inland maps plus Garmin Navionics+ U.S. Coastal and Great Lakes mapping. Multi-band GPS helps position accuracy where signals are weak or reflected. Built-in Wi-Fi pairs with the ActiveCaptain app for updates and OneChart, and it can share data with another compatible UHD2 unit.

Our take

The 74CV is not NMEA 2000 compatible, so it works as a standalone fishing and navigation display rather than a hub for engine or instrument data. Its sonar and preloaded U.S. charts cover the basics, and the IPX7 rating means keeping it out of direct soaking.

From our buying guide

What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.

Check before you buy:

  • The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
  • It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
  • A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
