The Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 73cv is a 7-inch chartplotter and fishfinder combo operated with keys. It runs Garmin CHIRP traditional sonar and ClearVu scanning sonar, with high-contrast color palettes to help separate targets from structure. Mapping is preloaded, with LakeVu g3 inland maps, BlueChart g3 coastal charts or a worldwide basemap. A GT20-TM transducer is in the box. Built-in Wi-Fi pairs with the ActiveCaptain app and shares sonar, waypoints and routes with another compatible ECHOMAP UHD2.
Our take
The keyed 7-inch display means you work the unit with buttons, which is a practical choice when your hands are wet or the boat is moving. The single 4-pin transducer port keeps it a simple standalone fishing and mapping unit, with Wi-Fi as its networking route.
From our buying guide
What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.
Check before you buy:
- The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
