The Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 7 inch 72cv (010-02593-00) is a chartplotter and sonar unit sold without a transducer. It has built-in Wi-Fi for ActiveCaptain app integration and comes preloaded with Garmin Navionics+ maps. It combines CHIRP traditional sonar with ClearVü scanning sonar, and can share sonar and waypoints with as many as 3 more ECHOMAP UHD2 units. The transducer and network cables are bought separately.
Our take
The 72cv comes without a transducer, so you pick the thru-hull, transom or transverse-mount type yourself and add network cables on top. What is in the unit is CHIRP and ClearVü scanning sonar plus Navionics+ charts preloaded.
From our buying guide
What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.
Check before you buy:
- The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
