The ECHOMAP UHD2 53cv is a 5 inch chartplotter and fishfinder combo operated by keys rather than a touchscreen. It runs Garmin CHIRP traditional sonar and ClearVu scanning sonar, and a GT20-TM transducer comes in the box along with tilt and flush mounts and a power/data cable. It is preloaded with LakeVu g3 inland maps and supports Garmin Navionics+ and Navionics Vision+ cartography. Built-in Wi-Fi pairs with the ActiveCaptain app and lets it share sonar, waypoints and routes with other compatible ECHOMAP UHD2 units.
Our take
The 5 inch keyed display means every adjustment is done with buttons, which is a plain, predictable way to run a unit on a boat that moves around. With a single 4-pin transducer port, you get one sonar source, so plan your transducer choice around that.
From our buying guide
What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.
Check before you buy:
- The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
