The ECHOMAP 54CV UHD2 is a Garmin chartplotter with a 5-inch display and ClearVü and CHIRP sonar. This version comes without a transducer. It is preloaded with LakeVü g3 inland maps and Garmin Navionics+ coastal and Great Lakes mapping. The screen is 800 x 480 pixels, and the unit has built-in Wi-Fi for a free mobile app, a microSD slot for cards up to 32 GB, multi-band GPS and an IPX7 rating.
Our take
With no transducer included, the 54CV is a head unit first, so its ClearVü and CHIRP sonar depends on a transducer you add. The 5-inch, 800 x 480 pixel screen is compact, and the preloaded inland and coastal maps cover fresh and salt water.
From our buying guide
What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.
Check before you buy:
- The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
