This is Garmin's bronze thru-hull wide beam transducer, built on the Airmar B175HW. It gives depth and water temperature through an 8-pin connector, with a 39 foot cable and a 25 degree beamwidth. The housing is flush-mounted and sticks out less than 1/4 inch past the hull, so it can rest on trailer rollers or bunks. The tilted element removes the need for a fairing block. Rated to 600 feet at 150-250 kHz, it does not include a speed sensor.
Our take
The housing protrudes less than 1/4 inch outside the hull, so a trailered boat can sit on its rollers or bunks without the transducer taking the load. The 0 to 7 degree deadrise range suits flatter hulls, and there is no speed sensor in the package.
From our buying guide
Raymarine's general guidance is 200 kHz for water under about 60 m (200 ft) and 50 kHz for deep water. In-hull transducers avoid a hole, but lose performance and need a solid fiberglass bottom.
Check before you buy:
- The housing suits your hull. Airmar and Raymarine rule out plastic on a wood hull and bronze on a metal one.
- It connects to your display, since an analog transducer needs an interface.
- A through-hull will be fitted to the maker's guide. Garmin says its own should be installed by a qualified marine installer.
