The Furuno TZT2BB is the NavNet TZtouch2 Black Box, a chartplotter unit that drives separate monitors. It has a built-in dual-frequency fish finder at 50 and 200 kHz with 600 W or 1 kW output, and it can send full HD HDMI video to multiple monitors. UHD radar can be added, starting from a 4kW NXT Dome, and the NavPilot autopilot can be integrated and controlled. There is one NMEA 0183 output port for older gear, power is 12-24 VDC, and weather forecasts run up to 16 days.
Our take
The built-in 50 and 200 kHz sounder with 600 W or 1 kW output gives this black box its own fish finder. The trade-off is that it is a black box with no display of its own, so monitors have to be part of the plan.
From our buying guide
What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.
Check before you buy:
- The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
